5/19/2023 0 Comments K webster stroke of midnight![]() ![]() ![]() I struggled to connect to either Winston or Ash, and the plot seemed to just get more and more far-fetched and ridiculous as it went on. But this story is not a fairy-tale, and Ash is no princess, so who will be there to rescue her when it all comes crumbling down? Their twisted agreement gets more and more dirty and depraved, but Ash seems to be falling. He’s drawn to Ash, she speaks to him with no fear like the rest of the people in his world, and they strike up a deal, he can humiliate her in any way he wants, and she’ll set her fee each time. Desperate for a job, she begins cleaning Halcyon, the headquarters of the infamous Constantine family, but gets caught doing a bad job by the CEO, cruel, cold, and twisted Winston Constantine. Newly 18 Ash needs money for college after her father remarried and spent her college fund impressing his new bride. As a K Webster newbie, I knew she was known for her taboo topics, but this one was way more than I expected. I went into this book with such HIGH expectations, and to be honest, I was kind of surprised by the events that unfolded throughout. ![]()
